Two recommendations that you have made are among the most valuable ones I used for my 245 pound weight loss.

First, drink that water! It is SO true! It has changed my life. It really is true that if you feel the urge to eat, FIRST, drink some water and give your body a chance to “process” it. It’s so true, what you said: often, it’s not that we are hungry…it’s that we are actually THIRSTY! The more water I drink, the better I feel. I now prefer it to the diet sodas and coffee that I used to guzzle. It does take an adjustment period to get to that point. But, once I got there…WOW ! It really is the fountain of youth. Excuse me while I sip on some delicious chilled water.

OK, next is your recommendation to view food as FUEL. Like many, I have had to admit that I can eat “emotionally”. I would eat when I was happy, sad and, especially, when I was bored, needing “excitement” and “stimulation”. I would eat “unconsciously”, just putting things in my mouth (now, it’s water!). Changing how you think about why and how we eat and viewing food as FUEL was a game-changer for me. You also make a good point that we CAN have treats and foods we like. We just need to be aware of what we are eating and why we are eating it. Exercising also helped me become more aware of my body and the effects of the food choices I was making to fuel my body (a.k.a. “my Ferarri’). And, just because I want to view my body as a Ferrari does not mean that it needs pizza and pasta and wine and Tiramisu! Viewing food as fuel has helped me to have a “healthy relationship” with food, not one where I feel out-of-control with my eating. Just some thoughts. Jennifer, thanks again for all that you do!”

A few weeks shy of my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I’d been exhausted, stiff and sore for almost five years, and my symptoms had reached an all-time high.

I was drinking a pot or more of coffee a day just to make it through. I was in constant pain. My mind was so cloudy that I couldn’t even experience life. It was like I was watching it on an old fashioned film strip – sounds were muffled, colors were muted and everything looked kind of ‘grainy.’ When people spoke to me, it took every ounce of concentration I had to process what they were saying and try to come up with a response. I could hardly sleep and would wake several times a night feeling like I was having anxiety attacks – heart racing, short of breath and nauseous.

Over the years, I have tried many different ways to lose weight but never found lasting success. In recent years, my weight has exacerbated some health issues. Finally, after 3 years, my numbers were going down. In less than 60 days, my numbers are in the 100s!

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in January 2018. My glucose levels have been in the 300 to 400 level, no matter what I ate. I was desperate to get the levels down. My doctor was not happy with my levels and sternly told me that things need to change ASAP. I felt like I tried everything, and nothing worked. In August of 2021, Jen began helping me to modify my lifestyle and helped me release my stress with LIIFT sessions.

My numbers started decreasing quickly. Finally, after 3 years, my numbers were going down. In less than 60 days, my numbers are in the 100s. My lowest number so far has been 138. I have never had any number in the 100s until now. I am so excited. My long-term goal is to cure my diabetes. With the knowledge and encouragement from Jen, I know that I can reach this goal.

My main goal when joining Jen’s program was to lose weight that I had been struggling with for a long time. I’ve tried the following diets throughout the years: Weight Watchers (4 times), Jenny Craig, Adkins, South Beach, and HCG diet (daily shots to the stomach/500 calories a day). I did lose weight on these programs initially but the pounds came back and then some. I was a little skeptical to start yet another program, but I’m so glad I did. Jen’s program has changed my relationship with food and it all starts with digging deep and figuring out the root of the problem, which for me was definitely emotional. Although painful at times, it was necessary to bring issues to the surface which gave them less power, and in turn making it easier to concentrate on fixing bad eating habits little by little. I’m a work in progress but look forward to continually learning with Jen and our Huddle Group. The support of all these wonderful people is invaluable.

To date, I have lost 20lbs since I started my journey with Jen this past summer and I am forever grateful for a program that works! Jen isn’t just a great nutritionist with vast knowledge and resources, she is genuinely passionate about changing lives so that we can have a life that we love and a body to support it.
